Life, statistically speaking
Inspiration: I got *a little* too excited about buffalo mozzarella that was reduced to $2 a tub this week. It deteriorated at a very rapid rate.
[DID YOU KNOW: It’s impossible to wear gingham pants without looking like a chef?]
Three Cool Things
Obviously last week’s episode of The Read Housewives of Salt Lake City (see Vulture re-cap), i.e. the BEST housewives episode in years from a franchise that’s been mediocre for a while. I re-watched clips on Twitter and snorted with laughter. Meredith’s walk during a tense moment. Meredith asking the waiter to kick Angie out of the restaurant. Whitney’s outfit.
Thomas Sainsbury on Insta - very funny, particularly this reel in which he pretends to be a woman selling sea shells by the seashore
Wifedom by Anna Funder is excellent. It’s about George Orwell’s first wife, Eileen O’Shaunessy. The best bits are where Funder actually dissects the way Orwell and his subsequent biographers have written her out of history. Also, the way Orwell’s biographers sanitise elements of who he was - like, playing down the suggestion of attempted rape and/or shifting timelines to imply he didn’t leave his sick wife to go and galavant overseas. Fascinating in content but also approach. (Fun fact: For a period of time Stasiland by Anna Funder was my go-to book gift. )
As ever, thanks for reading.
