Andy Cohen (Real Housewives big wig) tweeted ‘Be careful today everybody’ on Friday last week, which I am 1000% sure was referring to Israel and being Jewish and in the world right now, but quite a few people interpreted as either a) a reference to it being Friday the 13th or b) a random wish of goodwill.
The reply-tweets fell into three categories:
I never thought in my lifetime I’d have to worry about being Jewish
I love Friday 13th! It’s my son’s birthday!
And:
You too Andy. Hope the kids are well.
It felt like a metaphor for our disconnect.
Between Israel and the ‘No’ vote for the The Voice in Australia, it’s all a bit ‘what’s the point’ right now. I’m not sure what the point of sending this is, but I hope it finds you well. Or well-ish. Or maybe just finds you, if you want the distraction.
The Week in Pictures
Two interesting things
I used to think high fives were kinda lame but because of this episode of the Mel Robbins podcast I’m a total convert. Did you know research on basketball teams in the NBA found a key difference between teams that performed well and teams didn’t, was that the better teams gave each other lots of high fives? I’m coaching my son’s team and trying to get them to give each other high fives now. They’re under 8’s, so. A few of the high fives get left hanging (see above).
I got to interview Jessie Stephens this week on The First Time podcast. It was a good moment, I listened obsessively to Mamamia Out Loud during Covid. Also, she talks a little about manifesting, which is just about my favourite topic.
I keep staring lovingly at the Dyson Airwrap. Buying one is a terrible idea obviously but imagine have that good hair all the time.
Bye for now,
Katherine
