This 90 second Insta reel I made, entitled ‘What is a) the most disgusting experience of my life and b) the best $85 I ever spent’ explains my last little while*.
When I sent it to my mum, who was there when It happened, her response was: ‘It was worse than you made it sound.’ She’s right—it was. Not least of all because we actually have TWO fridges. (I had to edit for clarity.)
Which leads me to one of my favourite questions:
What purchase of $100 or less has most positively impacted your life in the last six months (or in recent memory)?
Tim Ferris asks this in all his interviews and it’s interesting what people recommend. Check out some answers here. PLEASE answer me back if you have a good one!
*This reel practically went viral! Slight exaggeration but 16k+ views!

I’m coaching writers
Skim to the next section if you read it last time (sorry, sorry, sorry), but the new part is: I’ve had a great response! I’m full up for the next three months but if you’re interested, I have a waitlist. Email me back by replying to this newsletter or check out my website here for more info.
To recap -
There are three things (none of which involve writing) that I’ve wanted help with as a writer:
When I was working on my debut novel and when that debut novel came out - I wanted someone to talk to, to be neurotic with, who could listen and encourage and give me advice on everything (including pitching!!).
Publicity and talking about my work was exciting but also, weird and hard at first. It’s so public and easy to feel like an imposter— one week you’re in the audience and then suddenly you’re the one on stage. It can be stressful! But it doesn’t have to be.
A key way that writers can build an author profile is by interviewing other writers, as part of a podcast or festivals or even on their own social media channels. But it’s harder than it sounds! I was terrible when I started but I’ve now interviewed a hundred+ writers, including many, many, many debut authors. I see both interviewers and interviewees make the same mistakes and I think they’re easy to fix.
Like I said, more info here.
Useful for creatives
The Tik Tok and Reels Creator Course by One Peak Creative (2 days, was <$60US when I got it)
Ingrid Laguna told me IRL that she’s doing this thing where she writes down a tiny idea for a story or a moment that happened every single day and keeps it to use for later in her fiction. Easy and useful. Love it!
